Most of us know the perils of ethanol and our vehicles. Many people, such as Zeddiev, have seen gas mileage increase by over 30% by using e-free gas over an extended time.

What are some e-free stations with addresses that you know about?

Mountain View
3648 Geer Hwy & Spring Court
(Ethanol free, but not worth the price.)
Travelers Rest
Yoronefuely

Coker's Supermarket
7701 Augusta Rd & Blakely Ave
(Ethanol free, but not worth the price.)
Piedmont
Yoronefuely

I agree. Both stations were priced at least 50 cents above the SC average price. I could see possibly 10 - 15 cents, but I wouldn't pay 50 cents.

>> ... RogerB, did you just move to SC? ...

Yes, I moved to Sumter last month. New job at Shaw AFB.

Yes, most stations that really do sell Ethanol free DO publicize that fact very clearly. For example: Kwick Mart - Sumter

Most stations charge a higher price, and likely have to. They need to advertise what they are selling to attract those who are willing to pay a premium price.

The law in SC is that they must display a label when they have ethanol, like most states.

NORTH Carolina however, is one of the 14 that still valiantly protect citizens from the perils of consumer information by letting them sneak it in there without requiring a label, so the only way to know is to ask someone knowledgeable at that particular station, preferably a delivery driver.

There are several e-free stations around me that I keep abreast of in here (hey TeroGirl, check out a recent link in that thread to some stations in the Charlotte area -- and please post your info in there too :-).

Hey RogerB, did you just move to SC? Weren't you in Indiana or somewhere?

I have noticed in general, in many areas, a growing trend for e-free stations to advertise as such on their sign. Word seems to be getting out that it's something people want.

I'm not sure what the law is regarding labeling - it would be nice if someone could let us know about that.

However, I have noticed stations that DO sell ethanol free gas have easily visible and usually fairly large signs announcing that their fuel contains NO Ethanol. Those stations usually price their gas 10 - 20 cents higher than other nearby stations.

That Sunoco station appears to be among the lower priced stations, do I wouldn't get my hopes up! There's likely some fine print somewhere saying that their fuel may contain up to 10% Ethanol.

Hey all, Do you know if the law requires stations to post if there is ethanol in their gas? I ask as I was told and checked that the Sunoco in Fort Mill (route 160 at Gold Hill Road) doesn't have anything listed on the pump saying they do. Could I be that lucky???

Keep an eye on Lil Cricket stations. Up until the past month or so, some still had no ethanol stickers. Now, most of the ones in Columbia have e-10 stickers.

Yesterday I was able to confirm these three previously listed, still free of ethanol, but a couple have short hours:

Plaza Station at Forrest Oil Co.
1 Plaza Dr. (just south of George Coleman Ford)
Travelers Rest
-- closes at 9pm.

Bush Oil Co.
300 S Pendleton St
Easley
-- this one is open Monday-Saturday, 8am to 6pm.

Citgo
1030 S. Alabama St. (US 221)
Chesnee
-- I believe this one is open 'til 11pm.

I have a correction to the Hess station at 1795 E Blackstock Rd & Old Georgia Rd. I thought that was in Roebuck, but the address is in Moore.

I heard about and just checked the former Texaco (currently nameless) at 1791 Asheville Hwy in Spartanburg. They have Ethanol Free Pure Gas and E10. E10 was $2.589. E0 was $2.699, so it carries a premium.

And now, I'm trying to find ethanol free in the Fort Mill/South Charlotte area for my mother. She fills up at the Hess near my house every time she's down for a visit. I saw the one listed in Rock Hill, which isn't too far away. Any others?

I normally never do this but this is just a bump to send this topic up, since it's the best list (fine work GasitupJB). Seems some other threads are dissipating the info. Will try to redirect them here.

The Hess station, at 1795 E Blackstock Rd & Old Georgia Rd is Ethanol Free!!

No stickers, and the clerk inside confirmed it. Not the cheapest in town, but worth it for ethanol-free gas!

Here are three locations that continue to have gasoline with no ethanol, i.e. pure gas.

Plaza Station at Forrest Oil Co.
1 Plaza Dr. (just south of George Coleman Ford)
Travelers Rest, SC

Bush Oil Co.
300 S Pendleton St
Easley, SC
near EHS

Cokers Supermarket
7701 Augusta Rd
Moonville
Piedmont, SC

We concur with the many advocates of NO ETHANOL. We know its best for our cars, boats and two-cycle engines.

Since Ingles caved, it appears that Spartanburg is now void of any e-free stations. I am trying to remember to register my complaints with Ingles every time I fill up now (still one of the better prices in town with the 3 cent discount). They probably won't care, because I've got nowhere else to go.

A new addition this time-- I forgot to add this before but on my way back up from Spartanburg there's this one on US221 about 12 miles north of there:

Citgo
1030 S. Alabama St.
Chesnee

(it's the same road also called Chesnee Highway and US221-- the station is on the west side of the highway. Chesnee is the first little town south of the state line.)

Bad news update:

Ingles Market (#50 on the list) now has ethanol stickers :-(

I was told at one of their stores in Tennessee that that store was about to cave in within a few weeks. A bad sign.

I should have more tonight. My usual habits are find them and post immediately as well as add to the MSL as I post. I haven't had the time to add to the list lately so I lost a few in the time it took to post and now. I'm checking more tonight so hopefully I'll have more to post later.

One that I know of in Rock Hill (they posted a sign on their front door stating No Ethanol) is BP at 490 S Herlong Ave near Heckle Blvd. Unfortunately they are also one of the most expensive in town, at 8 to 10 cents higher than the cheapies.

Smalljaws- 31 through 38 are the Mystery Stations. They can only be revealed to fourth-degree members of the Inner Circle during a full moon on Wednesday. Or by sending me a check for $800.

Seriously, good eye. And eye don't know.

The Columbia list should be found here: http://www.columbiagasprices.com/Forum_MSG.aspx?master=&category=1086&topic=344393&page_no=1&FAV=N

We have more stations on that list than the state list.

Nice list. Keep up the good work. Why does the list jump from 30 to 39, are some of the stations misssing (hopefully ones in Columbia)?

I love it that the Citgo in southeast Columbia is still e-free and I can continue to have great gas mileage
